As School Idol Show (the rhythm game inside Link! Like! LoveLive! (LLLL!)) has been around for a bit and gained some attention, I decided to write a guide for people who're interested in jumping into LLLL! This guide will focus on the rhythm game part more, but I've written a similar guide before for LLLL! and I'll be referring to it a lot.
For a more casual, seasonal-player, guide in LLLL! check out @How to (not) play Link! Like! LoveLive!
Link! Like! LoveLive! by design is a "School-Idol Supporting Application", which different features School Idol Connect, Activity Records, School Idol Stage, School Idol Show. The app is basically an all-in-one platform for Hasunosora content.
School Idol Connect is Streaming Platform
School Idol Show is the rhythm game mode inside LLLL!. It uses the same card pool as School Idol Stage (the card game mode), so cards you get from gacha can be used in both modes. However, the skills for each cards are different so naturally the meta card pools are also different.
The rhythm game resembles that of Project Sekai: Colorful Stage or Deemo.
There are 4 types of notes: Tap, Holds, Flick and Trace. You are not required to release on time for hold notes, as long as you hold the whole duration it'll all be perfect (at release it was a bit buggy, but should be fixed now). Trace notes are similar to yellow notes in deemo, you just need your finger on it and it'll register as perfect (unless it's late).
The main distinction between Expert and Master is that master charts have notes that requires you to use more than two fingers at once, which might be somewhat difficult for thumb players (or specifically train for it like this person….).
The charts are decently challenging at the highest level (based on the fact that I can't full combo 31-33s….) and still be very enjoyable on other difficulties. You can check out the charts here: https://hamproductions.github.io/llll-chart/ (shameless self-plug)
(part of the diagrams and content are taken from kui_shoko0322's Notes)
Although the rhythm game is fun on its own, the scoring and deck building aspect of it is just as interesting like School Idol Stage counterpart. Compared to other rhythm games where you have to repeatedly play the game or has. (In this area it's somewhat closer to SIFAS)
